During the International Vienna Motor Symposium in Vienna has given Volkswagen a light on new powertrains that will eventually find their place in production models.
Volkswagen emphasizes during the motorcycle symposium that next year the Golf will be the first Volkswagen with a 48V-mild hybrid system on board. The car can not be powered by the 48-volt assistance only switching off when stationary, but also when rolling out. In addition, the starter generator helps accelerate at the first meters. Volkswagen also announces the arrival of the new 1.5 TGI Evo, an engine with variable turbine geometry that lends to natural gas. The block is 130 hp strong and is being produced for the first time this year. In the current Gulf, with DSG transmission, the consumption must be 3.5 kg of natural gas per 100 km, good for a range of 490 kilometers. Then another 190 kilometers can be driven on petrol.
More engine news comes in the form of a completely new 2.0-liter TDI. This diesel engine also benefits from mild hybrid technology. The new 2.0 TDIs are available in capacities from 136 up to and including 204 hp.
